Buttermilk Fried Chicken

Perfect for beginners or even seasoned chefs that don't usually deal with fried chicken. This where I base most of my chicken recipes, try this and you'll never go wrong!


What we need:

  • 1kg chicken cut into serving pieces
  • Buttermilk
  • All purpose flour / Self raising flour
  • Garlic powder
  • Cumin
  • 5 spice powder
  • Curry powder (mild)
  • MSG
  • Ground white pepper
  • Salt


How to:

Marinate your chicken in buttermilk, salt and white pepper for 24 hours.

Let excess buttermilk drip before dredging it into your flour mixture (combine all the powder, salt and msg)

Pre-heat your oil at 320C and fry for 6 mins.

Flip it over and fry the other side for another 6 minutes.


Drain and let it rest for 3-5 minutes before serving.

This can stay crispy for up to 5 hours!
